Concord Academy Communication Updates

Dated June 8

Hello soccer families, we have received numerous messages asking if the Northern Chautauqua Soccer Association will offer any type of program this season. The short answer is, we are uncertain. Before we provide any programing, several factors have to be considered. First, the WNY region must reach Phase IV in the NYS Economic Reopening schedule. Once we have reached this Phase, where do we play? SUNY Fredonia has notified us that we cannot hold any programing there until August 15th at the earliest. We also have to consider the safety of participants and their families because reopening does not mean “return to normal.” Many restrictions have been placed on sports clubs and businesses to allow them to reopen. Safety is at the center of each of these decisions and restrictions.

Taking all of this into account, NCSA is suspending programming, rather than canceling, until further notice. We understand that some parents are concerned that they have received information from New York State West, our state association, about terminating the season, however, because sports and recreation are part of Phase IV in the New York State Economic Reopening Plan, we decided it would be in our best interest to suspend and not cancel. We are monitoring the situation and planning for a safe return to play when it is allowable by executive orders from our Governor. We will keep everyone posted on the progress of our program as we learn more.

In the meantime, we are working diligently to design and implement safety protocols that will mirror the rules that are set forth by NYS. If and when Phase IV becomes a reality, we would like to offer live practices and some friendly scrimmages with local teams. New uniforms will not be ordered, and a regular gaming season will not be able to commence. Our goal of keeping kids active, healthy, and safe is at the forefront of concern, and we want you to know that we, as an association, care about our members. For this reason, we are writing today to notify families that they will have the option to request a refund of registration fees or “bank” them for future NCSA playing opportunities. The link to request a refund or credit is here. If a family chooses a credit, their Household account in Demosphere will be updated with a credit equal to the amount they paid in registration this year. Because this money will be credited to their Household, they should be able to use this for any player and any activity, even programming in the fall if they want. If a family chooses they want a refund, we’ll refund them fully. Refunds take up to 17 days to process.

We've been fielding emails, Facebook messages, and even text messages asking if Northern Chautauqua Soccer Association will offer programing this spring/summer. The short answer is, we are uncertain. Taking all of this in to account, NCSA is suspending programing, rather than cancelling, until further notice. We are monitoring the situation and planning for a safe return to play (whenever that is). We will keep everyone posted as to the progress on these items.

Families will have the option to request a refund of registration fees or “bank” them for future NCSA playing opportunities. Information regarding reimbusement vs. banking of 2020 registration fees will be sent via email.

Hello Soccer Families,

As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, the Northern Chautauqua Soccer Association continues to monitor the situation.  At this time, we want to take this time to update you on what we know.  We understand our membership has questions and concerns about the upcoming seasons.  The Concord FC Committee and Concord Summer Academy Committee are staying in contact reviewing contingency plans. NCSA and our partners know how important having soccer in our players’ lives is.  If it all possible, we have full intention moving forward with both seasons while keeping in mind the health and safety of our players.

What do we know right now:

In regards to Concord FC Travel Club: We recently received a communication from the Buffalo & Western New York Junior Soccer League regarding the upcoming travel league season.  We ask that you please review it at this link.  At this point, there is the possibility the season with start later in June with reduced games.  If the league reduces the cost, we will pass that savings on to our membership.  If the season is canceled, all families who already registered will receive full refunds.  It is unknown when this decision with be made.  Our online registration company, Demosphere, has notified us that there may be up to a 12-day processing for refunds due to the high volume of refunds.  When we know more, we will update the membership.

In regards to Concord Summer Academy: We will reassess the season with our partners at the State University at Fredonia Athletic Department at a later date.  It is unknown when this decision will be made.  In the event the season is canceled, all families who already registered will receive full refunds. Again, our online registration company, Demosphere, has notified us that there may be up to a 12-day processing for refunds due to the high volume of refunds.  When we know more, we will update the membership.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding through this unprecedented difficult time. We hope that you all stay healthy and safe!
